A 13-year-old rape victim’s baby who was delivered despite a court order directing that the pregnancy should be terminated, has died after spending two days in a neonatal intensive care unit where he was set to be put for adoption.

The order to terminate the pregnancy of the 13-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by her father’s colleague , came when she was 32 weeks pregnant, which is beyond India’s 20-week legal limit after which terminations are only allowed where there is a danger to the life of the mother or the baby.

It was also gathered that because of the trauma she suffered, the Indian supreme court ordered that the victim can be allowed to terminate the pregnancy. However, some doctors took a call to save the foetus by performing a caesarean section.​
