Alexis Sanchez was mocked by his teammates over his failed summer exit to Manchester City during the transfer period.The Chilean international was keen on a move to Etihad Stadium in a bid to reunite with his former boss Pep Guardiola before Arsenal called off the deal at the last minute.

Manchester City was willing to pay £60million to Arsenal for the services of Sanchez but Arsene Wenger is unwilling to sell to his Premier League rivals was one of the reasons the deal could not materialize.

“But at the end of the day, he’s still at Arsenal.

“Everyone is happy, the fans are happy and he’s happy.

“I think with a player like Sanchez he just blocks it out because all he wants to do is play football.

“He’s so focused on football, he blocks out a lot of negativity and transfer rumours.”

Arsenal will return to Premier League action on Sunday against Brighton and Hove Albion.
