There is an ongoing debate online after Oba Taofeek Oyeyinka Ayinde Fatusi Obawole, the Onifako of Ifako kingdom in Lagos State – installed a young man as an Oba during his recent visit in Dallas, Texas in the United States. According to an outraged Facebook user Tunde Alabi-hundeyin Dudu, the installation of the new Oba is a “tragic bastardization of Yoruba ancient culture and tradition” which poses a danger to the Yourba civilization.

According to Tunde, an Oba is a highly spiritual being chosen by an intricate process laid down over centuries and undergoes very rigorous ancient rituals before installation….

Online users have bared their mind on the issue.
