Old Woman’s Dead Body Dumped In Ekiti River

The dead body of an old woman was yesterday morning discovered in Ureje River, Ajilosun area of Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

Residents and commuters plying the route along Ado-Ikere Ekiti road rushed to the scene to catch the glimpse of the corpse of the aged woman.

The dead body was said to have been dumped in the river Sunday morning by a young boy who they confirmed has been arrested by the police.

Residents, who gathered around the bridge, where the corpse of the woman was found, rained curses on the suspect.

The body as of the time it was discovered was clad in red blouse and off- white wrapper.

One of the residents, who craved anonymity said “the suspect was seen with the woman in the river as early as 6am.

” He was about to be lynched but for the timely arrival of the police who rescued and took him away”.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Caleb Ikechukwu, who confirmed the story, added that investigation had already started on the incident.
