Two weeks after his defeat at the polls, the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council PDP candidate for the Feb. 23 House of Representatives election, Engr. Abdulsalam Mustapha Kachalla, has decamped to the APC.

Engr. Kachalla announced his decamping to journalists on Tuesday in Maiduguri.

“My decision to join the APC is largely informed by the credible leadership demonstrated by President Muhammadu Buhari and Borno Governor Kashim Shettima; and for my former lecturer, Prof Babagana Umara, who is now the governor-elect.

He said he joined APC in the interest of his people and future generations, adding that the “state cannot afford to be in the opposition any longer given the bitter experience of gross underdevelopment and total neglect it suffered between 1999 and 2015 when the PDP controlled the Federal Government.”
