An Abuja schoolboy has been remanded in prison custody for sodomy, as confirmed by Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu. The Minister of Education who presented a committee report on the sexual abuse at the School for the Deaf in Kuje, Abuja, on Tuesday, said a schoolboy identified as  Sani Filo, had been remanded  in prison.

According to him, Filo was prosecuted and remanded at the Keffi Prison in Nasarawa State, after his confessional statement revealed that he sodomised another boy, Muhammad Kanun, at the school. A committee was set up by the Minister, after he received a petition from Kanun’s mother, Hannatu, in January 2018. They recommended that “a Closed Circuit Television Camera should be installed in all special schools to help in monitoring events in those places”
