The Ordeals Of Alimodu Sheriff And What It Portends For The PDP
The embattled former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seems to have been entagled in a new ‘tango’.
The Cable reports that the former National chairman is now on the ‘hot sit’ of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with the 2015 PDP presidential campaign funds.
According to a source who spoke to the Cables:
“Yes it is true, the EFCC in Borno state has invited Ali Modu Sheriff.”
It should be recalled that Mr Femi Fani Kayode was in a similar manner picked up with a related offence. The former minister of Aviation is still cooling his heels with the anti-grafts commission.
Ali Modu Sheriff had in the past week invaded the party secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party declaring himself as the party chairman against the will of the party members and in total deference to the party’s choice of a new chairman.
However, with the recent turn of event, the patinent questions are here:
Will Seriff be able to acquit himself of the allegations? If not, then what next?
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party had earlier accused Seriff of being a spy from the ruling party on a mission to cause mayhem in the party.
Does the recent turn of event portend a good omen for the PDP?
Will the party heave a sigh of relieve, now that the ‘Big Problem’ has caught himself in a more serious nest or will PDP stallwalts simply summon the courage to come out, support one of their own ? Nigerian politics will decide.
