Naval Warrant Officer Shot Dead In Edo

The Edo state police command says suspected kidnappers have killed a naval warrant officer identified as Felix Akanbi.

A statement from the command says the kidnappers attacked a commercial bus the deceased and seven other passengers were traveling in from Akwa-Ibom to Lagos en route Edo state yesterday July 16th. The gunmen intercepted bus along Ekiadolor and Ovia River Bridge and opened fire on the bus, and then proceeded to abduct eight of the passengers.

Akanbi who was about to go on retirement, was said to have been shot dead as he was unable to walk fast.

The police say the remaining seven victims have been rescued alive. The command added that the body of Akanbi was recovered from the bush after a two hours search.
