The shocking reason why Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola refused to play Riyad Mahrez in the Community Shield against Liverpool on Sunday at the Wembley.

Riyad played all the Nation Cup fixtures for Algeria but was dropped by Guardiola for antidoping controls.There was uncertainty regarding a medicine administered to Mahrez by Algeria doctors during the continental tournament.”We don’t have what he took… about the medicine,” Pep Guardiola explained. “That’s why, for doping control, today was a risk because the doctors didn’t have it.”That’s why he wasn’t in the squad to play some minutes.”Hopefully he will be back next game against West Ham and in the future, everything will be normal.”
