Former Chelsea Europa League winner Gonzalo Higuain breaks quarantine to flies to Argentina to meet his sick mum despite being in coronavirus self-isolation.
The 32-year-old striker had been in isolation along with the rest of Juventus squad following teammate Daniele Rugani’s positive test a week ago, with France international Blaise Matuidi also catching the virus in recent days.
Higuain had reportedly asked Juve for permission to visit his sick mother and had a test confirming he was negative for COVID-19.
According to Sky Sports Italia claims that Higuain organised to fly by private jet with his family after all flight to Argentina are all blocked from Italy but former Real Madrid star first flew to France then Spain and from there fly to South America,
Club-mates Miralem Pjanic and Sami Khedira are also understood to have been allowed to leave Turin just a week into their coronavirus-related self-isolation, while Cristiano Ronaldo had remained in Portugal to self-isolate after his mother suffered a stroke.
Italy has been hard-hit by the coronavirus pandemic with over 3,000 deaths and more than 13,000 positive cases.
