Blues striker Olivier Giroud has turned down a one-year Chelsea contract extension to remain Stamford Bridge beyond this current season, according to a report in Italy.
The 33-year-old France international is out of contract end in June and former manager Antonio Conte is keen on bringing the World Cup winner to the San Siro in the summer transfer window.
According to the Calciomercato report has Giroud rejected Chelsea’s latest contract offer, which is believed to be a one-year contract extension as the former Arsenal man is looking for a two-year deal, with Inter Milan looking more and more likely to be his next destination.
Giroud was out of favour under new manager Frank Lampard at the start of the season and looked destined to leave Stamford Bridge midway through the campaign.
However, an ankle injury to Tammy Abraham and poor form to Michy Batsuayi saw the veteran striker recalled to the starting eleven.
Giroud has taken his chance with both hands by scoring three goals 13 appearances (684 minutes) in all competitions this season.
