Javier Clemente took to social media to criticise the series of measures taken by the Spanish government as they attempt to halt the coronavirus outbreak.
The 70-year-old coach has indicated that people who are not infected by the disease should be able to live a normal life.
“The infected and those who infect have to be locked up at home, [while] the others [should be outside on] the street and at work,” Clemente posted on Twitter.
“This way there will be fewer problems. What must be difficult is knowing how to do this.
“So, everyone locked up. What’s bad for someone may be consolation for someone else.”
The majority of Spanish citizens are not allowed to leave the house to go to work during the state of emergency.
“After what we heard from both [the government’s] Health and Financial [departments], the conclusion I have reached with my little knowledge is that for the economy to go well, you have to go to work,” Clemente added.
“And who should go? Well, those who are healthy.

Clemente went on to express his frustration of not knowing when people would be given the green light to stop their self-quarantine.
“I keep watching TV these days and I am still worried, [as] it is not known if we will be locked up for one month or one year, depending on who you listen to,” Clemente noted in another tweet.
“And since we are not doctors, it is difficult to know what they mean.
“Anyway they don’t give encouragement at all and I’m not even talking about when politicians speak.”
