Liverpool fans have playfully urged Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann to move to Anfield after the World Cup winner commented on Roberto Firmino’s fitness workout.

With the Premier League and other top leagues across the world postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, football stars are having to maintain their fitness in different surroundings than they are used to.

Members of Jurgen Klopp’s squad have been sharing their workout regime on social media.

Last month, Firmino showed some skills from his personal gym and has now shared footage of his hard work on a treadmill, focusing on the screen before running off and posing in front of the mirror.

The footage earned more than two million views within 14 hours of publishing and Griezmann was among those to comment, posting ‘wow’ in Portuguese.

That earned a reaction from some wishful thinking Liverpool fans, who took the opportunity to ask the Barcelona forward to unite with Firmino at Anfield.

“Come to Liverpool,” one supporter said, while another commented: “Get to Liverpool” and a third suggested it was already a done deal.

“Griezmann is a Red,” they said and a fourth added: “He prefers Liverpool.”

A fifth suggested it was time for a change, with: “Don’t waste your time. Come to Liverpool – fight with us mate.”

Griezmann moved to Barcelona from Atletico Madrid last summer for a reported fee of £107m but, despite scoring 14 goals, there has been speculation of an exit.

Barcelona are reportedly keen to bring Neymar back to Catalonia from Paris Saint-Germain, with suggestions that Griezmann could move the opposite way.

The French striker has also previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Chelsea linked to his services.
