Neymar Tried To Convince Coutinho To Join PSG When He Left Liverpool (Mirror)

The Parisian club wanted to bring in the playmaker previously.

According to Daily Mirror, Philippe Coutinho could head to PSG, which are one of the few clubs who can afford to sign the Barcelona midfielder. They wanted him back in the day with Neymar trying to convince his compatriot to sign when he left Liverpool, but the Brazilian preferred to accept Barcelona’s offer.

PSG would be an option if Kylian Mbappe left the club this summer, although the French forward is a key piece of the project and the club’s Qatari owners have no intention of selling – despite Real Madrid’s interest.

According to reports, in 2017 Neymar allegedly bombarded Coutinho’s phone with WhatsApp messages in a bid to convince him to snub Barcelona for PSG.

But Coutinho had his heart set on Barcelona. He described the transfer as a “dream”, and the La Liga giants were seemingly the only club he’d have left Liverpool for at the time.
