Manchester United fans have laughed off suggestions on social media that Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is a better player than Bruno Fernandes when fully fit.
Keita emerged as one of the world’s most exciting players during his time with RB Leipzig and Liverpool shelled out over £50million to secure his signature two years ago.
However, the midfielder has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League, with a number of injuries hampering his progress too.
On the other hand, Fernandes has hit the ground running since completing his long-awaited move to United in the January transfer window.
The Portuguese has netted three goals and registered four assists in his first nine appearances for United and his transfer fee has already looked a bargain.
Despite Keita’s struggles and Fernandes’ blistering start, a Liverpool fan on Twitter suggested that the Guinea international was the better player when fully fit.
United fans were not impressed with the claim and hit back.
Fernandes has been regularly compared to United great Paul Scholes, but Michael Carrick believes it is unfair to liken the midfielders.
“Listen, he’s got great qualities but I think it’s a little bit unfair in some ways to compare him to Scholesy,” he told MUTV.
“They are both individuals, it’s a bit too easy to tag them with a name that has previously gone before him.
“Bruno is his own player, he’s got great attributes and he’s made such a difference.”
