Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr. Orji Kalu has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for nominating former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as Nigeria’s candidate for the position of Director General of World Trade Organisation ( WTO), IGBERE TV reports.

According to Kalu, the former Minister’s cross-national experience makes her the ideal candidate for the top position of the global trade body.
In a goodwill message on Wednesday, the Chief Whip of the Senate, described Okonjo-Iweala’s nomination as a further testament to President Buhari’s passion for professionalism, integrity, patriotism and gender balance.
The letter reads, “I write to commend President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, for nominating Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance and former Managing Director (Operations) of the World Bank, as Nigeria’s candidate for the position of Director General (DG) of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
“The candidate is indeed a good fit for this position in view of her vast experience and achievements in various capacities across the globe.
“The endorsement of Dr. Okonjo-Iweala is a further testament to President Buhari ‘s passion for professionalism, patriotism, integrity and gender balance.”
Kalu while wishing Okonjo Iweala continued success in all her endeavours, extolled the virtues of the former Managing Director (Operations) of the World bank.
