Odion Ighalo has rewarded popular Nigerian entertainer DJ Cuppy for declaring herself as a Manchester United fan henceforth – after the former Watford man scored in the FA Cup quarter-final clash against Norwich City.
The beautiful daughter of Femi Otedola, a famous Nigerian business mogul, tweeted before the game that she will officially become a Man Utd fan if the 35-year-old could find the back of the net. “As a Nigerian I think it’s only right that if Ighalo scores a goal today… I will officially join Man Utd as a fan,” she tweeted.
And in the 51st minute of the nerve cracking fixture, Ighalo pounced on a loose ball and flicked the ball into the net, leaving Tim Crul hapless in goal. Tod Cantwell drew the home side level in the 70th minute to send the match into extra time, but it was Harry Maguire that grabbed a late winner two minutes before penalty shootout to send United to the semi-final of the FA Cup.
Ighalo’s goal proved crucial and in response to DJ Cuppy, Manchester United replied using their official handle to welcome the entertainer. “Welcome aboard,” the club replied. Barely 10 hours to the kick-off of Manchester United’s away Premier League fixture at Brighton, DJ Cuppy received two jerseys from Ighalo as a reward for her switch.
“Look at what just arrived in time for tonight’s game! Odion Ighalo thank you for the warm welcome to Man Utd,” delighted DJ Cuppy wrote again.
