Birmingham City have announced that they are retiring their No.22 shirt to honour Jude Bellingham’s time at the club.

The 17-year-old has signed for Borussia Dortmund in a €25 million (£23m/$29m) deal, with Bellingham playing his last game for the club in their 3-1 defeat to Derby County on Wednesday.

A club statement read: “The 22 shirt has become synonymous with Jude, his rise to the first team aged just 16 years and 38 days and these qualities.

“And as such the club have decided it would be fitting to retire this number, to remember one of our own and to inspire others.”
