Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that centre-back Eric Garcia does not want to extend his contract at the Premier League club, and wants to “play in other places.” 

The news comes amid rumours that Barcelona want to sign the talented 19-year-old defender. who has made 19 appearances in all competitions for City this season. 

In his latest press conference, Guardiola revealed the news. 

“He announced to us that he doesn’t want to extend his contract with Manchester City,” he said.

“He has one more year and after that, he doesn’t want to extend. We want it but he doesn’t want to extend it, so I imagine he wants to play in other places.”

Barcelona are currently on the look out for a new central defender, with only Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet expected to be at the club next season, and Garcia is seen as the perfect fit.

The Spanish club are planning to make a €10 million bid plus add ons, according to reports.
