Football Fans Won’t Be Allowed To Sing Or Chant When Crowds Return

Football fans ‘will have to sign a code of conduct’ if they wish to return to stadiums amid the coronavirus pandemic – with a potential ban on singing possible.

The Premier League season begins on September 12 and some games will be tested with fans, while a full roll-out is planned for October.

Fans will have to agree to a number of rules before they enter the stadium in order to ensure safety.

The Sun have revealed one of these rules could include a ban on singing and chanting in an attempt to reduce droplets.

Premier League broadcasters in Britain have been using artificial crowd noise to generate an atmosphere for matches with no fans.

Games in the North West will not be included due to a spike of cases resulting in tighter restrictions for the time being.

Major League Soccer in America have had fans sign waivers stating they will not take legal action should they contract the virus at a game.

Socially distant seating and sanitiser stations will be provided for fans, who will be trusted to not attend if they have COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with someone who has.

One way entry and exit areas plus staggered arrival times will be used.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson explained: “At every stage I have said our plan to reopen society and the economy is conditional.

Today we are able to announce some further changes which will allow more people to return to work and the public to get back to more of the things they have missed”However, as I have always said, we will not hesitate to put on the brakes if required, or to continue to implement local measures to help to control the spread of the virus.”

Culture secretary Oliver Dowden chipped in with: “The nation’s hard work to keep the virus under control means we can now make further careful progress.

“We must all continue to Stay Alert but today’s welcome news means these organisations can finally get going safely, and we can enjoy more of the things we love as a nation.”
