Barcelona captain Lionel Messi will hold a higher rating than fierce rival Cristiano Ronaldo in the upcoming PES 2021, SPORTbible can exclusively reveal.
Konami announced that PES 2021 would not be a fully-fledged title and would serve as a ‘season update’ featuring the latest players and updated overalls.
And Messi, whose Barcelona future has been in doubt in recent weeks, will hold a 94 rating in the forthcoming title.
The 33-year-old Argentine superstar will boast 95 for offensive awareness, 97 dribbling and 90 passing.
Messi’s 94-rated version will also have 70 physicality, 45 defensive awareness and 40 goalkeeper awareness.
Juventus superstar Ronaldo, meanwhile, has fallen one overall shy of Messi in the PES 2021 ratings.
The 93-rated Ronaldo holds an impressive 91 offensive awareness, 89 dribbling and 83 passing.
The 35-year-old Portugal captain boasts a much better physicality of 87 over Messi’s 70, while also receiving 50 for defensive awareness and 40 for goalkeeper awareness.
Messi and Ronaldo were both joint-rated at a 94 overall in last year’s PES 2020, which was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and mobile devices.
Robert Lewandowski, who was in scintillating form for Bayern Munich last season, has been awarded a 92 overall.
The 32-year-old Polish striker’s club teammate Manuel Neuer will be rated at 89, while Barcelona duo Luis Suarez and Marc-Andre ter Stegen are both rated 89.
PES 2021 will mark the first time that both Messi and Ronaldo are on the same cover for a gaming title.
Both the Juventus superstar and Barcelona talisman feature on the box art alongside Bayern’s Alphonso Davies and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
Konami revealed in July that a “streamlined” version of PES would launch this year as the publisher ramps up its development on PES 2022 to become a fully-fledged next-gen title.
PES 2021 will launch worldwide on 15th September for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
