Two notorious armed robbers killed in shootout with police in Rivers State, guns, machete recovered (photos)
Two notorious armed robbers were killed at Mgbuichi Rukpokwu Obio/Akpor LGA, the residence of Mr. John Wokoma, (pictured) Chairman CareTaker Committee Emohua LGA of Rivers State, on Tuesday, October 25th.
The armed robbers had gone there to attack the Chairman and his family at about 2am, but were repelled by the officers on duty who engaged them in a shoot-out leading to the death of two Armed Robbers.
Other Armed Robbers who were on guard outside, on sighting men of the Anti-Robbery Squad from Special Area, led by the CSP Ibe Chike, opened fire on the Police. The police responded and chased them as they ran into the bush. The bushes have been combed but to no avail.
However efforts are in top gear to track and arrest other members of the robbery gang. Items recovered include one (1) English Made Pistol, one (1) Locally made Barrel Gun, one (1) Locally made Pistol, one (1) machete and four (4) pieces of expended cartridges.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Omoni Nnamdi, confirmed that the Commissioner of Police has ordered the transfer of the case to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for a discreet Investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Francis M. Odesanya, wishes to assure the good people of the state to have faith in the Police as we are irrevocably committed to fighting crime and criminality in Rivers State. He urged the Public to always share intelligence with the Police and to be conscious of those living in their neighborhoods, especially in the forth-coming yuletide season,” the PPRO emphasized
