Ahead of the premier league match against Brighton & Hove Albion, former Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo believes Manchester United squad is fitter and ready to win the encounter.
The 31-year-old was a late substitute in the Red Devils league opener against Crystal Palace. The Eagles ran out 3-1 winners against United at Old Trafford but Ighalo feels The Seagulls will fall in the lunchtime kickoff on Saturday at the Amex Stadium.
Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “It was a very tough game,” said the Nigerian attacker. “We knew, from the start, that we were coming to play a tough side. We are happy we are going through to the next round – that is the most important thing.
“We’ve not started the league very well, but we’ve won today and I think it’s a boost for this weekend’s game against Brighton. We’ll go there and try to win and start the Premier League [again].
“You can see we are getting fitter and everybody’s getting the sharpness. Everyone’s getting the game-time, getting fitter and fitter in every game. Now we go to the next game and have some minutes again and keep getting better and better.”
Ighalo was involved for 78 minutes in the Carabao Cup third round as Manchester United thrashed Luton Town 3-0 to set up a fourth round clash against Brighton coincidentally.
