Senegalese star Cheikhou Kouyate has described Super Eagles prospect Eberechi Eze as ‘special’ following his first start in the premier league during Crystal Palace 2-1 defeat against Everton at the weekend.
The 22-year-old, who joined the Eagles for a fee of around £20m had previously played as a substitute in the wins over Manchester United and Southampton but his outstanding display against the Toffees has earned him praise from his club teammate.
“This kid [Eze] is so special,” Kouyate told the club’s official website. “Now we need to give him a little bit of time.
“The Premier League is going to enjoy him because he has a good mentality, he plays well and we are happy to have this boy here.”
The Eagles lost their first game of the season at Selhurst Park against Everton but manager Roy Hodgson named Eze as one of the best performers.
“There were lots of very good individual performances and I would count Eberechi as one of those,” he said.
Eze is eligible to represent Nigeria and England as he was born in London to Nigerian parents.
