“I was just on duty and the owner of the building had instructed that he did not want anybody sitting on the fence, but most times, neighbours come around and sit there. After series of warnings, on this fateful day, I got into an argument with them and as a security man, I brought out my gun to scare them but one of them (the deceased) engaged me in a fight and started dragging with him. Suddenly, the gun cocked and hit him in his buttocks,”he explained.
Ojo who has since been dismissed from the Lagos State Police force as a result of the incident, added that the victim was thereafter rushed to the General Hospital Akodo where he later died.
His offence is punishable under Section 221 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.
