Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr will in the coming days monitor the situation at Vicarage Road after Troost Ekong picked what is suspected to be a hamstring injury in Watford’s 1-0 win over Derby County on Friday.Friday’s win at Pride Park Stadium was Ekong’s long-awaited club debut after a summer move from Udinese. But the former Bursaspor defender limped off the pitch in the 71st minute after suffering a hamstring injury.

Ekong was in action for Nigeria in an international friendly against Algeria, and he is expected to lead Super Eagles’ rearguard in November double-header 2022 AFCON clash against Sierra Leone. But there are fears the hardworking defender could miss next month’s qualifiers.Rohr is expected to announce names of players needed to prosecute the encounter in the coming weeks, but Watford head coach Vladimir Ivić has offered a message of hope on Ekong’s Injury update.
