Jesse Lingard: “I feel like I wasn’t Jesse Lingard. Even in football matches, I felt like the game was just passing me by, like I just didn’t want to be there.

“You go from the World Cup to some of my performances and you go, ‘nah something needs to change’. I opened up to Manchester United and told them what I was going through, my Mum was going through and they were always there to help.

“During lockdown I got my head together, I could’ve easily quit in lockdown, I could’ve easily given up. But the fight in me always brings me back to life.”

Lingard opened up about his battles with mental health during his career, inspiring to see how he’s back to his best and enjoying himself again.
