Mexico captain Andres Guardado has been ruled of Saturday’s friendly against the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Completesports reports.
Guardado, who plays for LaLiga club Real Betis suffered a harmstring injury in training and will not recover in time for the match.
The 34-year-old will also not take part in the CONCACAF Gold Cup as he is expected to spend a month on the sidelines.
Coach Gerardo Martino has already called up Pachuca midfielder Erick Sánchez to join the camp ahead of the game against the Super Eagles.
The friendly against Nigeria will take place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
The two countries have previously played each other five times with their last three encounters ending in draws.
