The Nigerian Labour Congress in Nasarawa has suspended its three weeks strike after reaching an agreement with the state government in Lafia.

Recall that on June 15th, 2021, the Organised Labour embarked on a strike action to press home its demands for full implementation of the new national minimum wage, pending promotion and salary arrears among other welfare issues for the state’s workforce.
Comrade Yusuf Iya, the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), announced the immediate suspension of the strike shortly after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government.
He directed workers to resume at their duty posts with effect from July 6th.
Iya expressed appreciation to traditional rulers and other stakeholders for their intervention in the resolution of the face-off.
Dr Abdulkarim Kana, the state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, read the agreement before labour leaders and representatives of government after the meeting led by the Head of Service, Abari Aboki, signed in the presence of Gov. Abdullahi Sule.
He explained that the state government had agreed to commence the implementation of over 10 years of outstanding promotions of workers from August 2021.
