Nigerian youths have been called to embrace entrepreneurship and saving culture to fight rising unemployment and poverty ravaging the country.

An entrepreneurship expert, Ibrahim Balami made the call during a three-day 2021 Youth Convention organised by the Youth and Young Adult (YAYA) of the Borno Province of the Redeemed Christian Church of God ( RCCG ) for the youths in Maiduguri at the weekend.

Balami who spoke on “Creation of Value for Money, Financial Management and Smart Investment”, urged youths venturing into entrepreneurship to invest wisely and avoid going into business that government policies and economic policies can affect.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation Alumni further advised youths to engage in business with less interference of government and business that will not easily bow down to pressure of naira and dollars, which is smart investment.

“The youths while venturing into entrepreneurship should invest wisely and should not go into business that government policies and economic policies can affect. Businesses with less interference of government as well as business that will not bow down to the pressure of naira and dollars, which is smart investment.

“The only way to fight poverty is by saving and spend less of your earning, don’t go and buy smartphones worth of N400,000 when you are still schooling or not a millionaire; it is not wise and I will like to charge to be a problems solver and focus on solution provision,” Balami urged.

Also, speaking on the topic “The Youth and the Church – Understanding Your Role”, Akeem Adekunle Sule, said that youths must learn to be responsible and take responsibility for their actions and in-actions.

A participant, Favour Cletus, acknowledged that the business seminar is one of the best things the church is doing for the youths at this moment by trying to teach the youths finance.

” The business seminar has given a shoulder for me to lean on and continue progressing, ” she said.

Another participant, Felicity Nicodemus, said the business seminar has widened her knowledge about making it in life.

“I have learnt that I need to pay the price now and today to make my tomorrow better, ” she said.
