The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has reshuffled five heads of directorate and redeployed 170 other officers, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Its spokesman, Francis Enobore, in a statement Sunday, said the exercise was aimed at injecting new ideas and promoting effective coordination of activities for enhanced service delivery.
Enobore said the redeployed officers comprised 147 senior officers and 23 junior officers.
He said the exercise saw Deputy Controller- General, M.A. Tukur, taking over the Directorate of Non-Custodial Measures (NCM); while DCG S.N. Nwakuche, who hitherto superintended over NCM directorate, is now in charge of Operations Directorate.
According to him, the DCG covering duties, M.E. Melchizedek, now oversees the Directorate of Health and Welfare, as DCG T.O. Oladipupo retired from service.
“Also, DCG (covering duties), E.A. Oputa has moved from the Directorate of Training and Staff Development (STD) to head the Directorate of Inmates’ Training and Productivity.
“Assistant Controller-General (ACG) L.A. Showumi, who was the Zone A Coordinator, now takes over the Directorate of TSD as DCG (covering duties), while ACG Uche Nwobi is moved to Lagos to take over as Zone A Coordinator, ” he said.
Enobore said the exercise also affected 21 Controllers of Corrections and 13 Deputy Controllers of Corrections.
He said while some were deployed to state commands and custodial centres, others were assigned new responsibilities, both at the national headquarters and at state levels.
