PEP GUARDIOLA joked that Jack Grealish and his Manchester City pals will be fined for their night out – but only because they didn’t invite him.

The club record signing went out with Kyle Walker, Riyad Mahrez and kit man Ally Marland on Sunday evening.

They were filmed being refused entry to city centre bar Albert Schloss by doormen between 7 and 8pm.  

And the suggestion with the footage when it was posted on social media was that it was because Grealish was worse for wear.

However City sources have since insisted it was due to a mix up on the door at the popular venue rather than anyone being too drunk.

Guardiola was asked about it at his press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s clash with Brentford at the Etihad.

He said: “I’m so upset because they didn’t invite me. I don’t like it – hopefully next time they can invite me for dinner.

“The video didn’t show exactly what happened. Dinner together sober, enjoying with their mates and backroom staff.

“The players know the risk when they go out because of social media but all of them – Riyad, Kyle, Ally, Jack were perfect.

“But they will be fined because they didn’t invite me.”

Asked if he was frustrated that the players are treated unfairly, Pep replied: “In this case, yes.”

City insiders say the group normally get allowed into Alberts Schloss via a side door but on this occasion it was not open.

When they went to the front, the security men had no record that they were coming and the footage was taken while they were trying to sort things out.

City maintain none of the group were drunk and that they went on to a nearby restaurant for a meal instead.

The club also says no curfews were broken as it was more than 48 hours before their next game – and they were looking forward to a day off on Monday.

Back in December, Grealish and Phil Foden were pictured at the same bar following the 7-0 win over Leeds.

With Covid restrictions much tighter back then, the duo found themselves axed for the trip to Newcastle a few days later.

Guardiola warned at the time that he takes as much notice of how players behave off the pitch as on it when picking his team.

The trio are in the squad for the visit of the Bees with injured pair Gabriel Jesus and Cole Palmer the only absentees.
