Ilkay Gundogan has labelled Liverpool title contenders following Manchester City’s 3-2 loss to Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, and Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Norwich to cut the Citizens’ lead at the top of the table to six points with a game in hand.

The game was an intense encounter with Delan Kulusevski scoring the first goal for Tottenham in the 4th minute. Gundogan pulled Manchester City level, before three time Premier League golden boot winner, Harry Kane, the put Tottenham in front again.

Manchester City were given a penalty after Argentine defender Cristan Romero handled the ball in the box, and Riyad Mahrez duly converted the spot kick to level the scores.

However Harry Kane made it 3-2 in the 95th minute to give Antonio Conte’s men the win.

“Liverpool are always contenders.
They’re always up there,”
Express.co.uk quoted Gundogan as saying after the match.

“The good thing is that they still need to come here to the Etihad, but there are still so many games to go.”

Liverpool also had a dramatic game on Saturday against Norwich. The Reds came back from a goal down to beat Norwich 3-1 with Salah, Mane and Diaz on the scoresheet.

Manchester City and Liverpool will clash on April 9 in what could be a decider for the Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola opined after the loss to Tottenham that it was a good game and gave plaudits to Harry Kane.

“It was a good game,” said Guardiola “We tried through many sides, especially down the left. It is very difficult, they defend so narrow.

“Tottenham have a lot of quality, they give the ball to Harry Kane. They are really good upfront.

“In the first half they have the goal and no more. In the second half they have one attack with Harry Kane at the start and they score.

“We try to score, but we conceded the goal in extra time.”
