Roma manager, Jose Mourinho says he has this lucky fortune to qualify teams to bigger and prestigious European finals.

The Portuguese tactician made this known on the backdrop of Roma‘s qualification for the final of the European Conference League (EFL) on Thursday.

Recall that Mourinho led the Serie A side to overcome Leicester City 2-1 on aggregate to reach the the final.

Reacting after the game, Mourinho said, “I’ve had the fortune to play in bigger and more prestigious finals than this one.

“Over the years I’ve become less egocentric and more like a father. Every club that I coached made a final. That’s good,” Mourinho said.

“I am so tired, I want to go home!” Mourinho told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s a victory of the family. Not just the one that was on the pitch and on the bench, but in the stadium. That is our greatest achievement, this empathy and sense of family we have created with the fans.

“I think our performance was extraordinary, others might see it differently, but when your goalkeeper makes two saves over 120 minutes against a Premier League side with so much attacking quality, it means we’ve done something good.

“The lads deserve this, we have three Serie A games left to end as well as possible. We’ve had a fantastic trajectory to reach the final, we dropped points in Serie A to achieve that, but now we are in the Final and we want to win.”

Mourinho’s Record

It will be the Portuguese’s fifth European finals appearance, having won the previous four: the 2003 UEFA Cup and 2004 Champions League finals with Porto, the 2010 Champions League final with Inter, and the 2017 Europa League final with Manchester United.

If Roma defeat Feyenoord in the final, Mourinho would become only the third manager in history to win three different UEFA competitions after Giovanni Trapattoni and Udo Lattek.
