Female Student Commits Su*cide After Failing To Graduate

A female student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT) has taken her life after failing to graduate during the 38th Graduation Ceremony of the institution.

The body of Irene Monica, a fourth-year student in the School of Business Computing, was found dangling in the bathroom inside her apartment in Juja on Wednesday, June 29 2022.

Her death comes just three days after another male student, also a fourth-year, died by su*cide inside his room.

According to the police, the 26-year-old student was to graduate on the day she committed su*cide.

“A fourth-year student at JKUAT in the school of business computing was found dangling from the bathroom door frame with a piece of cloth around her neck,” a police report seen by K24 Digital read.

The police recovered a su*cide note whose content has not yet been revealed. Irene is said to have complained to her friends that she was frustrated because she was not graduating.

The body was moved to General Kago Morgue awaiting post-mortem.
