Former Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid striker, Michael Owen has reacted to Liverpool’s decision to keep Mohamed Salah at the club.
Salah was said to be considering a shock return to Chelsea before finally signing a new deal with the Reds.
The Egyptian signed a new three-year deal, which will keep him at Anfield till 2025 and see him earn a base wage of £350,000 per week.
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finalist is now the highest-paid player in Liverpool history.
The Egyptian has scored 156 goals in 254 games for Liverpool, providing 58 assists.
And Owen, who left in 2004 to join Real Madrid, said the deal makes sense for both parties and a huge sigh of relief for the club’s supporters.
“Brilliant news that Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract at Liverpool. Every Liverpool fan breathes a huge sigh of relief. Makes total sense for both parties,” the former England international tweeted.
