Former Crystal Palace owner, Simon Jordan, has told Manchester United to allow Cristiano Ronaldo leave the club this summer.

According to him, Cristiano Ronaldo is a ‘luxury’ the club can’t afford, adding that the Portuguese compounds the club’s problems.

He noted Manchester United were wrong in every area last season, but Ronaldo compounded their problems despite his goals.

“Ronaldo just sort of compounds the problem because there’s a certain style of play that wins leagues and it’s based upon possession, hard work and pressing,” he told talkSPORT.

“If United are going to bridge that gap then they don’t have the luxury of a player like Ronaldo who will score you goals, but there’s a cause and effect.

“The effect is that the other parts of the team have to be functioning really well for Ronaldo to be an asset.”
