Goods worth N19.5m were destroyed following a fire outbreak at a shopping complex in Ilorin in the early hours of Monday, November 14.

The fire burnt 15 shops in a shopping complex comprising 20 shops at Atiba-Iyalamu Oja-Tuntun Area, in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The spokesperson of the state fire service, Hassan Adekunle, disclosed in Ilorin on Monday that “the fire outbreak occurred at midnight hour today, 14th November 2022, and no one was able to notice the ravaging inferno on time.”

However, men of the state fire service were able to immediately check the further spread of the inferno and subsequently eliminated it and saved the surrounding buildings from the inferno.

Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged the general public particularly the market traders to always play safe in their day-to-day activities.
