“Faith Over Fear” is Diistill’s debut music project; a statement he translates into seven tracks of homegrown Afrobeats. Conceptualized through his resilience to follow his dreams, he pours the essence of his experience and circumstances into corresponding melodies. The E.P. comes packaged with two high-profile guests – Peruzzi and Zlatan Ibile, both of whom support Diistill with complementary stellar verses.
Diistill credits “Faith Over Fear” as the project that helped him gain self-awareness as a bonafide creative. Through the efforts of many collaborators including King Bernard, Godboy, Slim, Johndee, Ehiz, Verified, 225 and more, Diistill is stretched to achieve his best potential. The body of work grounds us in Diistill’s mid-tempo lover-boy vibe while exposing us to his upbeat side. The opener, for instance, begins on a mellow note of supplication before the E.P. climaxes on a hyper Amapiano- influenced single called Happy Pills.
“Each song is a different expression of reality,” says the singer of the diverse quality of his “Faith Over Fear” E.P.. “It ranges from prayer, motivation, and romance, to sex, happiness and free-spiritedness”. On tracks like Ashluxe, Diistill reminds God of the need to bless him so he can bless his family. Leg Over sees his effort to give relationships another chance and his current favourite Pray For Me motivates him to chase his dream daily. Diistill drops numerous quotables all over the E.P. with the most relatable being “Person wey dey find grace no dey give up”. Loosely translated, success comes to those who anticipate it while playing their part.
