“A man should never slap a woman” – Lady sparks debate over self-defense in relationships

A young Nigerian lady has stirred intense reactions online after sharing her opinion about physical fights in relationships.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @Teeniiola, she questioned why some men claim self-defence after slapping a woman who hit them first during an argument.

In her words, she said:

“If you’re having an argument with your girlfriend and in the heat of the moment she slaps you, why would you try to slap her back claiming it’s self defence?

See my little hands, if I slap a guy it will barely do any damage. But if a guy slaps a woman, even biologically, men are naturally stronger. A woman can slap a man, but a man should never slap a woman.”

According to her, there is no justification for a man hitting a woman back, even if she slapped him in the heat of the moment.

Her statement has since divided social media users.

While some people agreed with her stance, arguing that men are physically stronger and should exercise restraint, others disagreed, saying that no one should hit anyone regardless of gender.

One user wrote, “Violence is violence. If anyone slaps you, return the gesture.” Another commented, “So because she’s a woman she can hit you?”
