Super Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr is confident of his players’ ability to dig deep into their technical books of tricks and come out on a winning note against Sierra Leone this evening.

Fielding questions from reporters in Benin City ahead of the encounter, the former Gabon coach stated in clear terms that the team is driven by its age-long desire to win matches and that it will be business as usual when Nigeria file out against Sierra Leone in 2022 AFCON qualifiers.

“Desire to win our games and since the beginning, we were in this direction, we are sometimes lucky to win our first games but I think the determination of the staff, of the team, is giving us this opportunity to be ready,” Rohr said.” It won’t be easy but if we start with nine points in three games, even a draw in Sierra Leone could be enough but we go all the time for winning the games. ” Rohr said.The former Burkina Faso gaffer also calmed frayed nerves of Nigerians over the antics and strength of their opponents, saying his players are now aware of what to expect from Leone Stars’ having watched their opponents match footage.

“It won’t be easy, we showed already a video to our players but unfortunately some of our players arrived on Wednesday night so we had to do it again on Thursday.“We will not underrate this team, our tradition is to be qualified with games to spare, we want to continue in this tradition,” he concluded.
