Dele Alli has admitted Tottenham were not playing well enough before before football’s suspension in March but insists players are determined to improve.
League defeats to Chelsea and Wolves and a draw with Burnley were compounded by the club’s exit from the Champions League and FA Cup after losing out to RB Leipzig and Norwich.
Spurs had been without leading goalscorer and captain Harry Kane since January before Son Heung-min picked up an injury in February.
But Jose Mourinho now has a fully fit squad to choose from for the club’s crucial clash against Manchester United in their first game back.
Alli admitted that his side had been poor before the season was halted but claims the squad are determined to put that behind them when the restart begins.
‘We are excited as it was an unexpected break having the season cut midway through,’ said Alli who was speaking on a live stream after a charity FIFA20 match as part of Gamers Without Borders.
‘From a Tottenham point of view we were not doing well enough before the break and we know that but we’ve all come back to training hungry and we want to improve.
‘Everyone is excited so we just need to dig in.’
