Gabriel Onyewife, a house of representatives member from Anambra state, has defected from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Onyewife defected to the PDP at plenary on Wednesday.
Reading his defection letter, Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house, quoted the lawmaker as saying he left APGA as a result of the division in the party.
Meanwhile, Dogara has sworn in three new members of the lower legislative chamber.
The members, all of the All Progressives Congress (APC), took their oath of office to fill the vacant seats in the house.
The lawmakers are Yusuf Nuhu of Toro federal constituency in Bauchi state, Tunji Olawuyi of Irepodun/Isin/Oke Ero/Ekiti federal constituency in Kwara state and Abubakar Kusada of Kankia/Kusada federal constituency in Katsina state.
Those representing the Bauchi and Katsina constituencies had moved to the senate, rendering their seats vacant while Funke Adedoyin who had occupied the Kwara seat died.
