According to reports, the man was tracked down by a group of youths after he allegedly stole from one of the residents.

The Nigeria Police Force has reacted after a video surfaced online showing the moment a thief was beaten mercilessly after he was caught in Lagos state.

It was gathered that the thief was tracked down by a group of youths after he allegedly stole from one of the residents.

In the trending video, the young man was stripped off his shirt, tied up and beaten mercilessly.

Reacting to the video, the Lagos State Command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, via his Twitter handle on Thursday, 6th July, condemned the action.

Hundeyin asked users to help with a screenshot of what the law states in such scenario, he said, “Someone help me screenshot Section 34 of the Nigerian Constitution, please.”
