A lady has sparked debate after claiming that men who can cook and handle household chores are “red flags” in relationships.
According to her, such men often expect their partners to rely on them completely but will avoid commitment when it comes to formalising the relationship.
Speaking on the matter, she said, “Any man wey sabi cook na red flag o. Man wey sabi cook ogbono soup, egusi soup, rice and stew, jollof rice and you dey inside that kin relationship with that guy? He no go marry you. If you try to talk, he’ll tell you dey go. Wetin you sabi wey I no sabi. Man wey sabi wash hin cloth, auntie na red flag o. You dey on your own. He no go ever marry you o.”
Her comments have sparked reactions on social media, with some users agreeing that men should focus on career and stability first, while others challenged her sweeping claims, highlighting examples of couples where men who cook and clean are happy and committed partners.
The debate has highlighted ongoing conversations about gender roles and expectations in modern Nigerian relationships.
