Arsenal sign Japan striker Takuma Asano

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Japan international striker Takuma Asano from Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

Asano, 21, will complete his move to the Premier League subject to passing a medical and completing regulatory processes.

Of the signing Arsene Wenger told the club’s official website: “Takuma is a talented young striker and very much one for the future. He has had an impressive start to his career in Japan and we look forward to him developing over the next couple of years.”

He is expected to represent Japan at the Rio Olympics this summer, and has made five appearances for his country to date.

Asano, who was voted J-League Rookie of the Year in 2015, scored 11 goals in 56 appearances for Sanfrecce Hiroshima since signing in 2013.
