Singer, Ahmed Ololade aka Asake, has come under strong criticism for dressing like a priest in his new music video.
The singer, his backup singers and dancers dressed like priests performing a mass in a catholic church for his new music video.
Like some Nigerians, Solomon Buchi has expressed distaste for Asake’s choice of props and has taken to social media to vent. In his post, Buchi described Asake’s action as ‘’disrespectful” and wondered why Christians still listen to his songs. He wrote;
Asake keeps disrespecting the Christian faith in his music videos. Dramatizing giving the Eucharist, robed up in priestly regalia for a music video that has no connection with Christianity is disrespectful. In his Bandana video, he depicts black goats troping into the church, with cloven tongues of fire above weird men. Asake, I think, is a Muslim. Why doesn’t he go above and beyond to embarrass his Muslim faith in this same way?
Why do Christians even listen to these musicians who bluntly disrespect Christianity?
Pearlpelay1 said: “Christianity is the most disrespected religion especially in Nigeria. Asake is not even a Christian. He can’t try with his own religion.”
etzsylva stated: “This is actually disrespectful to the Catholic Church
Christianity is so disrespected 🤦🏾♂️.”
Bidal4Life opined: “Yall are hypocritical. The same people telling Davido not to Fold that time are the ones getting riled up now🤣. Life comes at you so fast.”
MrChimaobikanu added: “Christianity has suffered! Christians need to start being more radical like their Muslim counterparts.”
temiszn stated: “These are the issues.”
