Atletico Madrid target Gonzalo Villar has insisted he is not planning to leave Roma.

The 23-year-old, who is currently away on international duty with Spain’s U21s, claimed to be unaware of Atletico’s interest when quizzed on his future by reporters this week.

“Roma gave me an opportunity when no one else would,” said Villar. “I don’t know if it’s true or not what they say about Atletico Madrid’s interests but right now I’m very happy at Roma.”
