The Nigerian duo of Simon Moses and Taiwo Awoniyi got the first set goals in the Belgian League clash between KAA Gent and Mouscron on Friday night.
Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon who only recently returned from injury got the curtain raiser as he scored just before the half-hour mark from the penalty spot but Awoniyi who is on loan from Liverpool scored for Mouscron in the 35th minute.
Gent regained their lead swiftly as they went 2-1 up thanks to Yuya Kubo’s 39th-minute goal before Dylan Bronn sealed the win for the home side on 74 minutes.
The goal scored on Friday by Simon is his fourth in 13 league appearances, while Awoniyi’s goal was also his fourth in 14 league games played.
Aside from the scoring duo, there were other Nigerians in action for Gent; they are Anderson Esiti and Samuel Kalu.
Kalu was later replaced with 15 minutes remaining.
The win took Gent to sixth on 22 points in the 16-team league table. Mouscron occupy 11th spot on 19 points.
