Prior to yesterday’s Champions League cracker against Dortmund, Gareth Bales has been the focal point of critics from the Spanish capital club, with some suggesting that ‘Bale is more of an athlete rather than a footballer’, a comment that would have prompted the Welsh man to find his form.

Injuries and lack of steady fitness has been the problem around Bale’s career at The Bernabeu.

With the quality of his game yesterday, surely the Footballing world has a lot more to see from Bale than The Athletics Federation.
